i was rolling around on a chair yesterday afternoon. since i was behind a strange desk, i promptly hit my knee, practically dead center on the cap. if the rate of a hummingbird's wings measured pain, i'd be hovering above my desk right now. last night, i thought it was gone. sad!
there's a u.s. nuclear device called the special atomic demolition munition that i just read about at straightdope.com. that's abbreviated sadm for you dammit-stop-making-everything-an-acronym! people.

earlier today, i was about to take a shower, when a phone ring i had been expecting finally rang. a few minutes ago, i wanted to go running (i know, i was supposed to earlier; tomorrow morning will work beautifully). then the phone rang again, much later than the "fifteen minutes" later you promised, mr. t. :-P
monday morning (jun27), i ran two miles. the duration was from 10:54 am to 11:12 am, from home to strathern to shoup to saticoy to home. i still have it, though it's been weeks since i went on a good run. bad! i was considerably out of breath and whatnot, so i feel this must resume as a thrice-weekly fun-times activity. gotta keep me cardiovascular health as near optimal as possible.

wow, i'm older than pac-man!
please note the updated sidebar stuff and nonsense to the left. thank you! love you, krista!
i was awake for the earthquake sunday morning. i know, i know, 8:41 is way early for me. what can i say? i had to tinkle. the animals were acting funny too.
sally ashton visited my branch yesterday. she called me "sir" and asked for help finding a book or two by worthingham or somesuch. wrote stuff on george washington. i wasn't much help, but ania was. yay. never thought i'd see my ap u.s. history teacher again. not my favorite. :)
today, this little pre=5-year-old was rampaging through the picture books section, while his dad sat around reading business magazines. i gave the kid a few brief glances, but those had no effect. in fact, he seemed to know i was bothered by his behavior, such was his renewed enthusiasm after i looked away. a few moments later, i stared and smiled for a bit, thinking i'd be nice and communicate telepathically that this running about and pulling books from shelves was making my job difficult. he zoomed back to dad. some kids are crazy-bad.
our resident unhoused patron (who is very unkempt but does not stink in a bad way) continues his strudy of relatively advanced chemistry, leading me to believe he wishes to join some communal boom-making outfit, or he is pursuing a degree. either way, good for him. he does talk to himself a lot, but apparently only when others are nearby. he must need an audience, or maybe he just likes giving people the willies.

so i read a little bit of a natalie wood biography monday, early tuesday. no big whoop. it was creepy as hell and i coul,dn't get to the part where she jumps ship, so to speak.
tuesday night, during a commercial on fox, peter griffin makes a nasty joke about that very event. yay for twilight zone funness!
i wrote the stuff below the dashes yesterday. sue me. suuuuuuueeeeee meeeeeeee no-o-o-o-o-owww. (i'm not as good as audrey, i know.)

stupid things i did today:
- woke up between five and ten minutes before the alarm clock went off. usually, i don't have one, but since the rents weren't home to wake me, they put it nearby for me.
- went to work more than an hour early so i could run some errands.
- i literally ran some errands. ok, fine, i just literally ran.
- took two minutes at the bank to deposit my check.
- yes, i got paid today, but only after remembering and forgetting and remembering it was payday about eight million times.
- mailed a letter from the post office. it took me four or five minutes to run down from reseda and nordhoff to reseda and plummer.
- it took me another five minutes to run from the post office to the oviatt library, where i was picking up some dvds from chris s. as i arrived at his office, i heard his booming voice down the hall, so it was funny that he said he couldn't meet with me because of an early lunch. we wound up talking for a few minutes, but i had to jet back to work.
- it took me another five minutes or so to run from the oviatt library to my work. i was marginally drenched with sweat and hadn't planned on running around that much. oops.
- on the drive home, i saw a guy pick his nose and chew on his finger (i'm saying he was biting off skin).
- i drove home on lassen, then topanga canyon. haven't done that in a long, long time.
